CRUEL KARTMASTERS DENIES COLES PODIUM SWEEP

TYLER CHESTERTON SECURES JUNIOR MAX PODIUM FOR COLES RACING AT KARTMASTERS, WHILST OLIVER YORK WAS CRUELY DENIED THE JUNIOR X30 VICTORY AFTER A POST RACE PENALTY. EDGAR NARROWLY MISSES OUT ON MINI WIN.

losing Edgar a batch of places, falling to 7th. He began to turn in fastest laps to vault himself back up to 3rd by lap six The two Strawberry Racing drivers at the front worked together to keep Edgar at bay until they began to fight. Edgar went for an audacious move around the outside of the pair of them at the hairpin, before running out of road and consequentially falling down the field. He would recover these positions, only to try the same move again and fall foul of the same outcome. Edgar finished the race in 6th position, not getting the result his pace deserved. Ravenscroft made a meteoric rise through the field! Despatching karts on a regular basis to claw himself into contention. He finished a brilliant 4th on the road, less than a second behind the leader, until a post race penalty dropped him 10 seconds, undoing all his great work.

 

Tyler Chesterton and Oliver Luc were the Coles Racing representatives in Junior Rotax, setting the 2nd and 8th fastest times in the first qualifying session. They went on to take 1st and 14th in the opening heat, followed by a 2nd for Chesterton in heat 2, with Luc being taken out of 9th position by a rival driver.

Qualifying 2 saw Chesterton stick it 3rd on the grid for his remaining two heats, whilst Luc was denied a solid session by technical gremlins. Chesterton took another top three finish in his next heat, but fell foul of a nosecone infringement in the fourth heat, demoting him to 15th position.
Luc came back through the field well after his unfortunate qualifying to notch a 7th and a 10th place finish.

 

The heat results gave the drivers 5th and 12th on the grid respectively. Sadly Luc was unable to take part in the remainder of the weekend, with Chesterton the only driver racing in the Junior Max Grand Prix.

Chesterton endured a difficult Pre-Final, unable to exploit his pace in a very tight race long battle for 3rd position, finishing 6th - where he would start the final.

In the Grand Prix final, Chesterton endured the difficult start from the outside, but came into the race late on to hit the front of the battle for the podium, pulling a gap to take a 3rd on the track, later becoming 2nd after a penalty affected the driver infront. This marked another great podium finish for one of our longest serving drivers.

 

Zak Fulk made his full return to karting with Coles Racing competing in the Senior OK Class, making their first visit to Kartmasters. After a problem in qualifying 1 thwarted his pace, Fulk raced back to 6th and 7th in the two following heats.

Qualifying 2 saw Fulk take the 11th fastest time - which is where he would start his heats. A 7th and an 8th place finish followed given Fulk a P7 start for the Pre-Final.

A difficult race in the fastest karts in attendance took it's toll on the drivers, with Fulk finishing 9th in the Pre-Final. The Grand Prix Final was not to be for Fulk, as a collision with another driver over the bridge saw him span around and out of contention for a good result - finishing the race in 12th position.

 

Oliver York took the fight to the Junior X30 grid, aiming to take his dominant LGM form into the Kartmasters Grand Prix. York duly took pole position in the first timed qualifying to give him pole position for his opening two heats. He was joined by Bhavmeet Singh who had a difficult session, finishing 37th overall.

York took a hard faught 3rd in the opening heat, but was dropped 10 seconds for a nosecone infringement, meaning he finished 15th - teammate Singh took 23rd in his first ever heat racing around PF International. York hit back winning his 2nd heat, with Singh 25th in his.

 

Qualifying 2 saw York a surprise 23rd after suffering with kart issues, Signh likewise struggling and was 40th overall. In the two heats that followed, York had a difficult third heat finishing in 16th position, but faired much better in his final heat - gaining thirteen positions to finish 2nd.  Singh was forced to retire at half distance in his third heat with damage, which sadly forced him out of his final heat.

Singh managed to come through the B-Final after his best performance of the weekend, finishing 6th and getting into the main Grand Prix Pre-Final and Final.

York started 7th in the Pre-Final, launching to the front by lap 7. A race long battle between him at the three BKC drivers saw the lead change back and forth, before York was hung out on the second hairpin, dropping him to 6th position - where he finished the race. Singh had a difficult race, on tyres much more used that the rest, finishing 34th overall.

 

The Grand Final was almost a repeat of the Pre-Final for York, a good opening stint of the race saw him embroiled in a battle with the BKC Drivers. York made his move to come through to the front of the pack, taking two of his rivals within two corners!

Going for the lead at the second hairpin - his rival chopped across the front of him, forcing contact and dropping York back to fourth. He immediately gained a position back going into the final lap.

York went into the bowl in 3rd and pulled off an outrageous move - around the outside of the two drivers to come out in the lead of the race, taking the victory over the line!

Sadly though, the contact in the second hairpin had dislodged his nosecone and cruelly denied him of the victory in Junior X30.

 

Senior X30 saw Rotax regulars Josh White and Josh Skelton join Scott Mackrell in the class, alongside Connor Hall, making a one-off return to karting.
Mackrell took a brilliant 2nd fastest time in qualifying, with White and Hall taking 4th and 5th fastest, Skelton setting the 14th fastest time struggling to get a clear lap in.

White was taken out in his opening heat but came back with a 3rd in his second. Mackrell took a strong 6th and a 2nd in his heats, Skelton a 4th and 10th, and Hall taking a strong 9th and a 5th on his racing comeback.
Into Quali 2, White took the 3rd fastest time overall, Hall and Mackrell taking 12th and 13th overall with Skelton 17th in a difficult early session.

 

The remaining heats saw White and Mackrell both taken out in their 3rd heats, but faught back to a 1st and a 3rd respectively in their final heats. Skelton endured a more consistent pair of heats with a 7th and a 12th. Hall rounded off the heats with a 6th and a 7th. These results gave Hall 7th, Skelton 8th, Mackrell 10th and the luckless White 24th on the grid for the Pre-Final.

 

Hall lead the charge, fighting for the podium from the off, taking an eventual 4th position less than a second off the win. Skelton finished ahead of the next train of karts in 6th position, three positions ahead of teammate Mackrell in 9th. White's luckless time continued,despite finishing 11th on the road, he suffered a nosecone infringement dropping him to 28th in the classification.

 

The Grand Prix for Senior X30 was a tight contest from the off, with a train of karts fighting for the lead. Hall hit the front on lap 7 only to be immediately deposed as the lead changed lap by lap. At the end of a furiously fast final, Skelton finished 5th overall as the highest placed Coles driver, White finished 9th on the road but again fell foul of a nosecone penalty - dropping him to 19th. Mackrell was taken out of contention after just 9 laps of the race, whilst returnee Hall finished 7th on the road after his bright start, but was aggrieved to have caused contact and was excluded from the results.

 

A Kartmasters weekend that saw the team lead in every final bar one was not to be in the final results, such is the nature of these one-off events - anything can happen! The team moves onto the final rounds of the LGM and Rotax Euro Challenge, after recharging the batteries from the five day event at Kartmasters.

SPAINISH STRUGGLES FOR COLES AT ZUERA

COLES RACING SUFFERED A DIFFICULT WEEKEND AT THE ZUERA CIRCUIT FOR THE THIRD ROUND OF THE ROTAX EURO CHALLENGE FOR DRIVERS IN BOTH JUNIOR AND SENIOR CLASSES...

Josh White led the way for Coles Racing in qualifying, taking 11th ahead of teammates Tom Croydon, Josh Skelton and Stephanie Le Vesconte in 22nd, 23rd and 25th respectively.

 

Heat 1 saw White and Le Vesconte on the move with White gaining three places to finish 8th with Le Vesconte moving up five places to finish 20th. Skelton crossed the line in 20th, but a 5 second penalty saw him drop to 22nd, just ahead of Croydon in 24th.

 

Heat 2 saw more progress from White to finish 8th on the road, but a 5 second penalty dropped him to 14th. Skelton gained 6 places for 17th ahead of Le Vesconte and Croydon in 22nd and 23rd. Heat 3 saw White hold station to collect 11th place after losing ground in the opening stages and dropping to 15th with Skelton and Croydon following each other up the order to finish in 17th and 18th respectively and just ahead of Le Vesconte in 20th.

 

White lined up in 8th for the Pre-Final and was embroiled in a close race with several other drivers until contact from behind saw him drop down to 22nd on lap 5. White pushed on and recovered well to come home in 13th place. Croydon continued his march further forward to move up to 16th place from 23rd on the grid despite a difficult first few laps with Le Vesconte tucked up behind him in 17th place. Skelton also progressed well, going from 20th on the grid to cross the line in 12th, but a 5 second penalty unfortunately dropped him to 19th.

 

Coles Racing Teammates White and Croydon lined up in 13th and 16th on the grid for the Final with Le Vesconte on P17 and Skelton racing from P19. A stunning first lap saw White up into 5th before taking 4th and getting in stuck in with the lead group. White dropped back to 5th on lap 5, but held on to the drivers in front of him to regain 4th place with a handful of laps to go. The chequered flag waved with White coming home in 4th, but falling foul of the front fairing rules and picking up a 5 second penalty to give him 10th on the final classification. Croydon, Le Vesconte and Skelton all endured hard racing with Croydon having to settle for 20th and Le Vesconte and Skelton classifying as 22nd and 23rd respectively after not seeing the chequered flag.

 

The Zuera results mean Smalley is currently 7th overall in the Junior Standings, whils White leads the way for Coles in Rotax Max with 5th overall in the standings.
The next event will be the Briitsh Kart Grand Prix for Kartmasters, hosted at the PF International Circuit on August 4-7.

FOUR FANTASTIC FULBECK PODIUMS FOR COLES RACING

JOSH WHITE AND JONNY EDGAR TOOK DOMINANT VICTORIES, WHILST JOSH SKELTON, TYLER CHESTERTON AND SCOTT MACKRELL ALSO REACHED THE PODIUM AT FULBECK FOR THE ROTAX & X30 SUPER ONE BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP...

Junior Max saw Tyler Chesterton be the teams sole representative. He was unable to get a time in during qualifying due to some on the grid technical issues, meaning he would start both his heats from the back of the field.

Chesterton was forced to retire in the first heat after getting up to 11th position. He finished the second heat in10th position, gaining 9 places from his starting grid and outlining he had the pace to come through and challenge.

 

The Pre-Final saw him line up 15th. Chesterton made good progress throughout the race, setting the 2nd fastest lap in progress to finish 8th.

In the final, Chesterton made a great start, thrusting him into the battle for the podium positions. By lap7 he was in P4, seeking out third place. He made his move with 2 laps to go, holding on for 3rd position and a well deserved podium.

 

Ethan Rees joined the team in Junior X30 at Fulbeck. After early mechanical gremlins marred his preparation, he hit back with a strong 3rd and an 8th in his heats, to line up 6th on the grid in the Pre-Final.

Sadly first lap contact eliminated Rees from the action and would have to start the final from the back of the field. Nevertheless, he staged a fightback in the final, taking 9 positions on the opening lap, eventually finishing the race in 5th position,

 

Senior Max saw Josh White in imperious form around the Lincolnshire race track! After taking pole position in qualifying, White went out to make the circuit his own, by winning both heats in dominant fashion to give himself the hole shot in the Pre-Final. Coles Racing teammates Josh Skelton, Morgan Rose, Stephanie Le Vesconte and Tom Croydon, would line up 3rd, 7th, 10th and 11th respectively, after all showing strong pace throughout their races, banking solid finishes.

 

The Pre-Final saw White keep up his powerful display, taking the win from his teammate Skelton to lead home a Coles Racing 1-2. Croydon made up strong ground to finish in 6th position, whilst Le Vesconte was unlucky with some lap 1 carnage, which saw her not finish the race.

 

White ended the weekend as he started it, at the head of the field after another crushing performance, completing a total clean sweep and maximum points score to boost his title aspirations. Skelton followed him home in 2nd position to supply even more silverware to the team. Rose took 6th after coming through from the back of the fiel Le Vescote salvaged 11th in a tough final, whilst Croydon's luck ran out after a difficult race dropped him to 13th at the flag.

 

The last race up was the X30 Senior class with Scott Mackrell representing Coles Racing. Mackerell took a consistent 6th and 7th in his heats to star the Pre-Final from 7th.
A very competitive Pre-Final made it hard for Mackrell to make progress, finishing in 8th position. In the Final though, Mackrell rediscovered the form he had exhibited at the previous rounds, as he managed to fight his way onto the podium, taking the 2nd fastest lap in the process on his way to 3rd position.

 

After 4 rounds of the championship, White leads the Senior Max standings, whilst Edgar and Mackrell both line up in 2nd overall in Minimax and X30 Senior respectably.

With just over half distance in the championship completed, Coles Racing are still in the hunt for 4 British Karting Championship titles in the Rotax and X30 classes.

COLES CAPITALISE WITH CASTELLETTO PODIUM

JOSH WHITE MAINTAINED COLES RACING'S PODIUM RUN IN ALL COMPETITION BY TAKING 2ND PLACE AT CASTELLETTO FOR THE SECOND ROUND OF THE ROTAX MAX EURO CHALLENGE...

Josh White led the Coles Racing Rotax Max drivers over the course of the weekend. Despite only qualifying 11th overall in the combined timed qualifying, Josh hit the fore in the heats, taking two 2nd places and a 3rd to wind up second overall on the grid for the Pre-Final.

Fellow Rotax Max Drivers Josh Skelton Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte qualified 22nd, 34th and 35th after some unlucky heats masking solid pace for the trio.

 

White initially dropped a place at the start of the Pre-Final, before battling past his two rivals to take the lead on lap 6. White was never headed for the remainder of the race, bagging pole position for the Grand Final. Skelton endured a difficult race where he was baulked throughout finishing an eventual 23rd. Croydon gained 6 positions in his race, whilst Le Vesconte was taken out of contention on the 2nd lap and forced to retire.

 

White held the lead in the Grand Final for the opening laps, before his rivals behind made use of the slipstream and got onto his rear bumper. On the fifth lap White was deposed of the lead and became embroiled in a close contest with Scholl for the victory. As the laps ticked by, the gap never increased over 0.2s, but White was unable to make a move stick, finishing the Final in 2nd, but banking important points for the championship and maintaining Coles Racing's podium run in all competitions!

 

Another strong weekend for Smalley and White see's them both sit 5th overall in their respective championship standings, still in contention for the title with two races to go!

TWO OUT OF TWO FOR YORKIE IN LGM

Oliver York continued his unbeaten streak at the head of the Junior X30 standings in the LGM X30 UK Tour after taking victory at Kimbolton...

Chesterton sadly didn't get the rub of luck for the final. A rough start saw him dropped down the order to 24th position after some serious contact on the opening lap. After pushing back up the order, once again he was embroiled in contact, this contact sadly saw Chesterton become a victim of the front fairing infringement, meaning a 10 second penalty and an unfortunate end to his promising day.

 

Scott Mackrell showed great pace from the off! Taking 3rd position in the opening heat, aswell as taking fastest lap on the way. Heat 2 saw him make great progress through the pack, gaining 10 places from his starting slot to finish 17th ath the chequer. His final heat was more frustrating, starting from 12th in the tight pack made for hard progress as he finished the race where he started.

 

These positions gave Mackrell 10th on the grid for the Final. Mackrell maintained his position as a large train of karts from 4th position back to 11th formed. Mackrell managed to work his way into 7th position, before getting punted off on lap 13, dropping him to the back of the pack into 26th position.

A mixed day overall for the three drivers, with both Chesterton and Mackrell not getting the bit of luck their paced deserved! Oliver York however has remained imperious in Junior X30, and will be looking to carry this form on further into the next round at Glan-Y-Gors on the 11th and 12th June.

COLES RACING DOUBLE UP AT RISSINGTON

Coles Racing continue their winning streak in the Super One British Karting Championships, with a win for Josh White and Scott Mackrell in Rotax Max and X30 Senior...

The Grand Final saw Edgar pushed off the track on the second lap, dropping him down to 11th where he battled back to 5th at the chequered flag. From 5th to 11th, the gap was less than half a second over the line! Ravenscroft came home in 10th position and Burgess in 13th to take the Rookie victory!

 

Tyler Chesterton was the sole representative in Junior Rotax. A difficult qualifying saw him in 10th position for his heats. Progress was hard in the tight pack as Chesterton took 11th and 14th in the two heats to give himself 11th for the start of the first final. Chesterton took 12th in the first final after a race long battle in a train of 4 karts.
Chesterton's Grand Final saw him make great progress through the pack, as he battled up to 6th position at the finish to bank some solid points.

 

Rotax Max saw Josh White, Josh Skelton, Morgan Rose, Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte take 1st, 4th, 11th, 13th and 15th in qualifying. White duly converted pole positions into two wins. Skelton took an 8th and a 7th in a frantic pair of heats. Rose and Croydon took a consistent 10th and 12th each and Le Vesconte took 13th and 11th in her two heats.
The first of the finals saw White denied a victory from pole position, in the aggressive fight for the lead he came home in 4th position with the fastest lap. Rose and Skelton took 8th and 9th in a close finish. Croydon and Le Vesconte were 12th and 13th before the latter receiving a front fairing infringement penalty.
The Grand Final saw White recapture the winning form as he took the victory on the final lap, whilst setting the fastest lap in the process! Rose drove a solid race to 9th whilst Skelton endured a difficult race being knocked back numerous times, finishing an eventual 11th. Le Vesconte battled well to finish 13th and Croydon who finished originally in 12th, was sadly a victim of the front fairing infringement, demoting him to 14th.

 

Scott Mackrell put it 3rd overall in timed qualifying for X30 Senior, which he followed up with a 3rd and a 6th in his heats, therefore he would line up 3rd for the first of the finals.

Mackrell managed to get the better of 2nd placed Brett Ward after a race long battle, sadly the leader was out of range by the time he cleared into 2nd.
The second final saw a rain shower affect proceedings, the change in weather suited Mackrell well, as he maximised his opportunity to take the lead and eventually the victory in the opening round of the X30 Senior Super One British Championship.

 

This marked a continuation of the great run of podiums for the team, as their attention now heads towards the 2nd Round of the LGM and Rotax Euro Challenge Championships at the start of May.

YORKIE TAKES CLEAN SWEEP AT PFI LGM

Oliver York dominated the weekend in the opening round of the Little Green Man X30 UK Tour at PF International! After taking pole position, He was never headed throughout the rest of the weekend.

Scott Mackrell was also a sole representative for Coles Racing in the X30 Senior Class. Again Scott would be racing on a grid of over 80 drivers, with both X30 categories managing over 160 entries in total, it was never going to be an easy ride which such a large range of talent in attendance.

 

Scott rose to the challenge by taking the 7th fastest time in his group, making him 19th overall as the two previous groups made the most of better conditions in their qualifying sessions.

Scott made a great start from 7th in the Pre-Final taking 5th early on. As the race drew on and the battle intensified, Scott found himself back in 7th position at the flag after a hard faught affair.

 

This meant Scott would start the Final from 20th on the grid. After surviving the early lap melee, Scott got his head down to make his way through the quality pack of drivers. Picking them off at a steady rate saw Scott finish the 14 lap final in 13th position. However a fair few drivers infront had fallen foul of the nosecone infringement rules, these promoted Scott into 8th overall when the final classification was published.

Overall a very strong showing from both drivers in massive grids which bodes well for the rest of the LGM UK X30 Tour.

GUTTING FINAL RESULT AT GENK

Adam Smally was robbed at a shot of victory after a great showing all throughout the weekend in Juniors, Josh White likewise denied in frantic finals at Genk...

Smalley made a fantastic start to take the lead early on, before a battle between the top 4 raged on throughout the race. After numerous position changes, Smalley finished in 3rd.

The final saw Smalley start from 3rd. After initially losing one position in the opening jostling, he retook his starting position and joined the battle for the win. The top three ran within 0.5s of each other for the majority of the race until the 12th lap. An incident delayed Smalley and one of his rivals as the leader took the opportunity to take advantage and pull a gap for a safe win. Smalley fell just short of taking 2nd position by a mere 0.2s.

Sadly Smalley was deemed responsible for the 12th lap incident, where he was given a 10second penalty added too his race time, meaning he was classified 19th after all the judicials.

 

In Seniors, Josh White was again in great form, taking the 2nd fastest time overall in qualifying. The opening heat saw White maintain his 2nd position after a close battle all race long with the eventual heat winner. Teammate Josh Skelton embarked on the start of his recovery after struggling in qualifying to finish 15th. Heat 2 saw Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte endure a difficult race in the tightly packed grid, finishing 17th and 22nd respectively.
The third heat saw White pushed down the order at the start, falling as low as 13th, which he quickly recovered from as the fastest kart on circuit taking 6th at the flag. Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte held their own well to move up the order, Skelton made the most progress with a 7 place gain.

 

The heats gave White 4th on the grid for the Pre-Final and teammate Skelton in 22nd. A combative race saw White baulked in his progress through the pack on the opening lap, having to repeat his 3rd heat heroics to come home in 9th position, one place ahead of Skelton who had gained 12 positions in the Pre-Final.

 

The final as expected was a fiercely fought race, with Josh White bearing the brunt of some exuberant driving on the penultimate lap. After charging up to 4th position, an ambitious move by a rival driver resulted in White being completed taken off the circuit, and out of contention for a podium finish for which he pace certainly deserved. Skelton survived the carnage around him to deliver a very solid 10th position at the flag.

 

Overall the opening round of the championship was a bittersweet one for the Rotax team, clear pace was masked by unfortunate incidents marring the weekends of Smalley and White, denying them podium finishes. Despite this, the continued strong pace of the team can only lead to success as the season goes on.

WHITE-WASH AT SUPER ONE ROUND ONE!

Josh White came from 5th on the grid to win the Grand Final in ROtax Max for the opening round of the 2016 super one rotax british championships held at rowrah...

Junior Max driver Tyler Chesterton qualified in 5th position for his opening heats, which he translated into a strong 3rd position in the opening heat, before a penalty thwarted his result in the second heat.

 

These results gave him a 9th place start for the first of the two finals. Chesterton immediately fought back in the First Final, gaining 4 positions in the tight pack to finish in 5th position, this is where he would start the Grand Final.

In another tight race, involving a 5 kart battle for 2nd position, Chesterton was involved in a close battle all the way to the finish, just missing out in the commotion at the end of the race, finishing in 6th position.

Rotax Max saw the lineup of new recruit Josh Skelton, Josh White, Morgan Rose, Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte qualify 1st, 4th, 8th, 12th and 10th respectively for the opening heats.

Skelton converted pole position into a victory in the opening heat, teammates White and Le Vesconte fell foul of the front fairing infringement rules, dropping them to 9th and 11th at the flag. Croydon sadly didn't make the start of the race after an engine issue.

Skelton doubled up on victories in Heat 2, with White coming home in 4th position after a strong battle at the front. Teammates Croydon, Le Vesconte and Rose finishing in formation of 10th, 11th and 12th.

The results gave Skelton pole for the finals, White would start 7th after his first heat misfortune. Rose would start from 10th, Le Vesconte 11th and Croydon 16th after his DNS.

The First Final saw a race long battle between Skelton and Jack McCarthy for the win, Skelton just missing out by 0.25s at the line. White made up two positions to finish in 5th position aswell as his teammates as Rose finished in 8th, Le Vesconte 10th and Croydon making up 5 positions to finish in 11th.

White made a great start in the Grand Final, as the team of Skelton and White circulated in 2nd and 3rd in the opening laps. White hit the front of the pack on the fourth lap with Skelton following him through. White was never headed from then, crossing the line to take the victory by 0.6s.
Skelton was unfortunate to be knocked back o the 12th lap whilst running second behind his teammate, later recovering to 5th at the flag after an unlucky end to a brilliant debut weekend with the team.
Morgan Rose finished the eventful final in 9th position, Croydon in 11th and Le Vesconte in 12th.

After the opening round of the championship, Josh Skelton is 2nd in the Rotax Max standings, with victor Josh White in 4th. Jonny Edgar is 2nd in the Minimax standings and Tyler Chesterton is 7th in Junior Max.

Overall it was strong opening weekend of the season, with plenty of silverware in Minimax and Rotax Max which the team can further build on for the rest of the season.

'O' SO CLOSE FOR EDGAR AT THE BRITISH OPEN

Jonny Edgar came so close to achieving his FOURTH british open championship in a row AT ROWRAH IN MINIMAX AFTER A STRONG FIGHTBACK...

Junior Max duo Adam Smalley and Tyler Chesterton qualified in 6th and 9th for the racing heats. Smalley would be the victim of bad luck in the opening heat, finishing down in 19th position, whilst Chesterton faired better coming home 6th.
Heat 2 saw Chesterton finish 4th in a super close finish in a train of 3 karts. Smalley again was luckless in the race, finishing 10th despite setting the second fastest lap.

Smalley gained 5 positions in the Pre-Final to finish a strong 6th, again with strong pace. Chesterton had a difficult race being knocked down to 10th at one point from 4th position. later recovering to 8th at the finish.
The Coles duo would start 6th and 8th in the Grand Final. In the hard fighting grid, progress was hard to come by in the race, Smalley finishing in 5th and Chesterton finishing in 15th after being knocked back in the Final.

 

Senior Max saw drivers Josh White, Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte experience a difficult weekend. White fairing the best in qualifying with 5th position.
None of the drivers could catch a break in the opening heat, as all drivers faced a bad luck in an up and down heat. White finishing 8th, Croydon finishing 15th after a front fairing penalty and Le Vesconte finishing in 14th.

Heat 2 was another hard race, with the front pack breaking away, progress was hard to make in the talented field. White coming home in 5th, Croydon 13th and Le Vesconte 14th.

 

The Pre-Final continued to be challenging for the team, as the action hotted up in preparation for the final. White battled through to 6th, before being demoted for the front fairing, Le Vesconte came home in 10th, whilst Croydon was forced to retire 5 laps from the end.

 

 

Cruel luck restricted White to just a single lap in the Final, after being taken out of contention in the opening skirmish. Croydon and Le Vesconte faired better, making good progress to come home in 7th and 8th at the finish.

 

Overall it was a challenging weekend at the British Open, with the team in general missing out on that of luck needed to be victorious, despite showing great pace all round.
Attention now turns to the opening round of the Super One British Championship in just one weeks time, again at Rowah, where the team aim to make amends.

SMALLEY WINS ROTAX WINTER CUP

Adam Smalley takes victory at the season opener for the Junior Rotax Winter Cup! Josh White doubles up on podiums for Coles Racing with a 3rd position in Rotax Max...

Starting the Grand Final from 7th, Smalley got a brilliant start straight into 4th position, later moving up to 3rd. The front pair came together multiple times, with both drivers receiving 10 second penalties for driving standards. Smalley kept his nose clean and crossed the line knowing he was the victor of the Winter Cup!

Rotax Max saw a line-up of Josh White, Tom Croydon and Stephanie Le Vesconte race for the Winter Cup. A strong qualifying performance from Josh put him 6th overall in the combined Qualifying Classification, providing him with good positions for the heats.

 

Heat 1 saw White deliver on his strong pace,  taking the lead on the fourth lap from which he was never headed. Le Vesconte gained 6 positions in her race, finishing in 12th followed by Croydon just behind.
The second heat saw Josh White once again claim a strong result, finishing in 2nd position. Team-mate Le Vesconte once again made good progress through the field whilst Croydon was unlucky in his race finishing in 14th.
Josh White finished his final heat in 3rd position, with Croydon and Le Vesconte both coming forward again in their heat to finish 11th and 12th respectively.

 

The strong finishes from White put him 2nd on the grid for the Pre-Final. Le Vesconte would start 24th and Croydon from 28th in the competitive field.
A hard faught Pre-Final saw White shuffled down the pack from his unfavoured outside starting slot. The tight pack was hard to come through as Josh finished in 5th at the flag. Tom Croydon moved u 4 positions to finish in 24th, whilst Le Vesconte was a victim of contact from another driver, putting her out of the race on lap 1.

 

The Grand Final saw White make a great start, immediately into the podium places as him and the two leaders broke away from the pack. The order at the front however didnt change as they were all setting identical times as the race went on. Josh finished the race in 3rd position, banking another podium finish for Coles Racing at the Winter Cup.

Croydon and Le Vesconte both made progress in the Final, finishing in 23rd and 26th at the flag after a tough wekeend.

 

Coles Racing enjoyed a double podium at the Winter Cup after showing great pace throughout the entire weekend. This bodes well for the fast approaching Rotax Euro Challenge and Super One Series!

 

START AS WE MEAN TO GO ON WITH PFI WIN

2016 started with a podiums galore for Coles Racing Drivers in all Rotax and X30 Classes at PF International. New arrival Jonny Edgar took the Minimax win in his first ever junior race!

In Junior Max Adam Smalley picked up another trophy. Adam again was at the top of the timesheets all weekend, solidifying this pace by finishing in a strong 3rd place in the Final.
Tyler Chesterton returned to Junior Max for only his second race in the class, showing strong pace to follow up Smalley's result with a solid 7th place.

 

Senior Max saw Josh White return to the class after 4 months out. Unfazed and as sharp as ever, Josh took a very convincing win in the Grand Final driving superbly all weekend in both wet and dry conditions, setting himself up nicely to head to Spain next week for the Rotax Winter Cup.

Tom Croydon finished in a respectable 6th place after a performing well all weekend, taking P3 in the Pre-Final. Stephanie Le Vesconte continued her impressive form, driving all the way from the back on the field to finish in 7th place, both drivers will be joining Josh at the Rotax Winter Cup with high spirits.

 

In Junior X30 the odds were against Oliver York as a spark plug failure in Timed Qualifying meant he wasn't able to set a timed lap. Oliver faught through from the back on the field in the second Pre-Final, to finish in 9th position. Oliver started the grand final in 18th position, storming through to finish 2nd and setting fastest lap, narrowly missing the win!
X30 Senior saw Scott Mackrell continue his impressive form from the end of 2015, taking a comfortable win in Pre-Final B, which was followed up with 2nd place in the Final.

A podium in every class entered was a fantastic start to the season for Coles Racing ! Now onto the Rotax Winter Cup, where we hope to continue the momentum.
